Gran Canaria golf makes Rafael a winner

Las Palmas born Rafael Cabrera Bello proudly ognoted his winter season by lifting the Austrian Open golf title in Vienna to cement his place on the PGA European Tour. A great achievement for the 25 year old, but little wonder when Gran Canaria has such a wealth of golf courses for professionals and fun players to learn on.

Rafael would have been able to play close to home at the modern Las Palmeras resort or take in some history at the real Club de Golf de las Palmas, the oldest golf club in Spain, dating back to 1891. Most holiday makers and those who have invested in property in Gran Canaria will favour the courses of the south, they have a good selection. Mogan has the bright modern Anfi Tauro course and San Bartolome de Tirajana has the 27 hole delight, Salobre Golf and Resort.

Maspalomas is a real hot bed of golf, as well as being one of the most popular places to live and visit. Meloneras Golf  in the newly developed bay area is just a short chip away from Maspalomas Golf with its 2 storey driving range, both close to the majestic rolling sand dunes and national park.

The year round climate makes Gran Canaria a great place to relax and play a few rounds of golf, just another reason why so many people are investing in this sun blessed island. Cardenas Real Estate are experts in property particularly in the south and can make sure you have that peace of mind so you can concentrate on improving your golf game.

Flights stacking high for Gran Canaria

Competition among the low cost airlines is set to give a huge boost to Gran Canaria tourism and also to regular travelers that want to invest in an island property. Jet2.com and Ryanair have both announced increased flights to Gran Canaria over the next year.

Jet 2.com are adding Newcastle airport as a new route from May 1st 2010 to October 30, opening up an even greater choice for the north east of England. But travellers don’t have to wait until then to enjoy the fruits of Ryanair’s decision to move flights to more regional airports, as from October 30th 2009 they can chose from 10 British routes. Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Dublin, East Midlands, Glasgow,  Liverpool, London Luton, London Stanstead and Shannon will now link Britain to Gran Canaria, there are also new routes from Girona, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Madrid and Oporto.

There has never been a better time to make the move to Gran Canaria and Cardenas Real Estate will be happy to guide you all the way from choosing your new property to making it a home. The sun and beach are waiting for you, and now even the flights are in your favour.

Ryanair launches 16 new Gran Canaria routes

Gran Canaria is such a beautiful island, it’s good to invite as many people as possible to see for themselves. The new winter schedule for low cost airline  Ryanair does just that with 16 new routes.

The UK is well served by the new schedule, but it also opens up several other European countries, adding to the multi cultural mix that makes Gran Canaria such a pleasant place to live. The new routes run to and from Barcelona (Girona), Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Brussels, Dublin, Duesseldorf, East Midlands, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Liverpool, London – Stanstead, London -Luton, Madrid, Oporto, Shannon.

The welcome move has been made possible with the help of AENA, the Spanish airport authority, they have scrapped their airport charges to encourage Ryanair to use the Canary Islands to a greater extent. The new routes will run initially from October 2009 to March 2010, and hopefully beyond that if they are well received.

It’s a great boost for holiday makers, who can now reduce their travel times before take off, and also a big encouragement for investors who are looking to buy a home in Gran Canaria. The weather and relaxed way of life has always been a big draw, but now the ease of commuting between their UK or European base, and their new sunshine home, is another great reason to make that big move.
