Hello from Cárdenas Real Estate and we hope you are looking forward to April as much as we are.
Here’s a quick summary of the main events coming up this month in Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria’s big film event has been going for 17 years and this year features over 100 films in venues all over the capital city (but mostly in the Multicines Monopol cinema in Triana). Tickets cost four euros per film or you can buy a five-film ticket for 12 euros.
There are also concerts and a number of restaurants are putting on special dishes during the film festival.
By the way, the Multicines Monopol also shows feature films in their original language every week.
Classical music concerts
The Súbito Koral choir gives a performance on April 7 in the Expomeloneras concert hall in Meloneras. The concert is a celebration of Holy Music and includes pieces by J.S.Bach, D.Andreo and A.Vivaldi.
In Las Palmas, the Alfredo Kraus auditorium offers a full program of classical and contemporary music, including Johann Sebastian Bach and concerts by the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra.
In Arguineguín, we have a dancing performance by Gran Canaria’s music schools in the Perez Galdos plaza on April 25, and modern music performances by the Gran Canaria Music Schools on April 29.
The Challenge Gran Canaria triathlon is on Saturday, April 22nd. It starts at 08.00 from Amadores beach (expect some traffic disruption in the area on the day.
El Pajar fiesta
The village of El Pajar just east of Arguineguín celebrates its annual fiestas in honour of Santa Águeda del Pajar. The events start on March 31 and last until April 9.
If you plan to drive in Gran Canaria this month, bear in mind that a stretch of the GC 605 between Presa de Las Niñas and Ayacata village is closed for repairs. However, the new inland west coast road is due to open to traffic any day now.
