This is the latest news about the residential property situation in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (SBT).

Thousands of property owners and communities have now handed in their objections to the recent proposals by the SBT town hall to restrict the use of property in tourist resorts. Over 6,000 official objections (known as allegaciones) were handed in before the September 30 deadline.
So what happens next?
The municipal authorities now have to examine the allegaciones and prepare a response.
In the meantime, property owners have formed an organisation called the Plataforma de Afectados por la Ley Turística (PALT). This is dedicated to representing property owners and their rights and to give them a voice during discussions about changes to the law.
PALT is urging its members and those affected to attend an open informative meeting on October 7th. It takes place at 19.00 in San Fernanado next to the church.
What might happen
We know that the current laws will have to be amended as they are currently contradictory in several ways and do not fit in with the established reality in many tourist areas. The President of the Canarian Government has already said that the laws will be amended within a year after a period of consultation between the different authorities that have competency, the various economic agents and organizations representing the owners.

We hope that the pressure applied by the thousands of official objections, plus campaigning by PALT and ACEGI, will have a significant impact on proceedings.
